Welcome! Here I archive or link to fanfics which concentrate on the romantic side of the Ranma 1/2 - specifically his romance with one of the Tendo sisters. Yes, one of them.. Not just Akane! I like reading lots of Ranma fics, not just the romantic ones. But I have been intrigued lately by the fics which have Ranma ending up with either Nabiki or Kasumi. Sooo... I thought I would try to gather some of these in the same place, along with a few Akane ones to round out the theme. Let me know what you think...
09 Jan 2000 - Woohoo! Yes, I am back... I will not bore you with the tedious details off my delays, simply suffice it to say I came down with a BAD case of Real Life! Nothing new on NDNH, yet, but it is coming! Thanks to everyone who sent me mail, and I am responding as quickly as possible, now that things are getting back in order... Welcome to our new home... This will just be a clean-up and move for now, let me know if anything is not working, and I can hopefully get back to doing more meaningful updates about twice a month.
Chris Jones (Updated link) has a great take on the Tendo and Saotome families in his series "The Ballad of Ranma and Akane" which has both fathers disappearing and the children being raised by their mothers. Mr. Jones is also responsible for an interesting series called "Ranma's Apartment" in which Ranma gets fed up with the chaos that surrounds him and moves out. Of course, Akane does find her way to his new place. You may want to be familiar with the Ah! My Goddess anime series before trying "Ranma's Apartment" as what started out as a guest appearance has snowballed into a full-blown crossover - though a very good one.
No look at the romantic side of Ranma and Akane would be complete without reading Joseph Palmer's two series "Seasons" and "Colors." Each of these spends time exploring the quiet moments of a relationship, though his most recent work in progress, "Yellow" has a bit more going on. Check out Mr. Palmer's award-winning work here.
If "Colors" has not spiked your blood sugar, and you still want more WAFF (Warm And Fuzzy Feeling), try Ashfae - some great, if brief, romantic pieces but sprinkled generously with angst. "Ryukenzawa" is archived here, but you need to be familiar with the Shinnosuke story to understand it really. Even though she is not as prolific as some of the other writers, I cannot help coming back several times each week on the off-chance she may have updated "Validation" or added some other work.
Then there is Lord Archive
Easily some of my favorite fics... though notably more adult
in flavor. "Confession"
is one that really struck me. I won't spoil it for you, but I
have to re-read this one every so often. For a tear-jerker,
check out "Rejected," which chronicles the chain of events
that result from Nodoka rejecting Ranma because of his curse. The various
perspectives are done very well. The list of other good fics
goes on and on, including "Second Chances," "The Insanity
Continues," and "It Wasn't a Dream?!" Lord Archive
has written some of those rare lemons I read when I am in the mood for
a good story.
Another fine
piece of work is Vince Seifert's "The Taming of the
Horse" which is a great story starting with Akane deciding
she wants Ranma and getting some unusual help.
Also check out the follow-up story, "Centaur."
KaraOhki
offers several enjoyable fics on her
page including some good one-shots. Pay special attention
to a wonderful longer piece called "Breaking Free" which
picks up the action with Akane Saotome pregnant and Ranma in the
hospital. Confused? Just sit back and relax, and let
Akane tell you how they got there. Also, read her continuing fic
where Ranma and Akane each decide they need a "Change of
Scene." They are approaching graduation and have
relationship problems (big surprise, huh?). Will they go their
separate ways? Think about where you found the link. :)
Tom Wrensch
has a number of short fics that say a lot more than many others do in chapter after
chapter. One particular favorite of mine is
"Countdown" which takes the
reader for a short ride into the future. I could go on and on about
the other fics including "Proper Punishment" which tied my
"Special Delivery" in the March voting; "Miko" which has a Tendo
wedding that does not include Ranma at all; and "Talking to
Myself" which gives Akane the opportunity to change her future.
Just take my advice, go
there, and read them for yourself.
Here, I offer up my first
fanfic. When you do what Nabiki did in the last volume of the
manga, how do you go about "Repairing the
Damage." Somewhat cleaned up, but still very much a
Freshman
attempt, expect the usual errors and weak development, and you may
not be
too disappointed. Compare it to the original version
here.
If you are really interested
in Nabiki and Ranma
getting together, check out The
Church of Ranma and Nabiki. The
page includes links to
some of the other stories
below, but I still wanted to highlight some of them. Archived
specifically on the
site is Sean D'anna's "One Special Wish" in which the
meddlesome fathers finally
find something that would bring Ranma and Akane closer together, if
only they were more
careful.
One of the authors from the
church
is Michael Chen. "No
Title," is a story
several of you have been requesting I add to the page for a while
now.
Now that I have his permission, I can finally do so. I should
warn
you the story is unfinished, and Michael does not have definite
plans for
how or when that will happen. He is, however, currently
revising
"Antithesis" and here is the revision of
Chapter 1.
"Waking Up" is a fun story by
Michelle Thatcher that has a new fiancee coming, Ranma and Nabiki
find they have some things in common, and Ranma has to make some decisions. This
author seems (according to her comments on her page) to be stalled, and in need
of some encouragement, so launch the email program and see what you can
do!
A particularly good read is
Donny Cheng's "For Love or
Money" and the sequels "What Price Love," and "The
Cost of Loving" which sees a relationship growing
from one of Nabiki's schemes. Also check out "A Ranma Christmas
Carol" which stars Nabiki as Scrooge, but still manages to fit
nicely in this Nabiki section.
For those that just want to
start the whole thing
from scratch, there is Jeffrey Rutsch's "Tales
of Ranma and Nabiki," an alternate universe fic which has
Soun deciding on the
day they meet that Nabiki should be the one to get
engaged.
"The Kiss
and other stories"
(or story at the moment), is looking to be quite good. These
are written by John
Biles, and he does an incomparable job, as usual.
Unfortunately, as many of you have emailed me, we have all been waiting on
the next part for a VERY long time. I wish I had more info, but I don't
know any more than anyone else...
Mike Malaspina does not have
a site of his own, yet, so he has kindly allowed me to archive
"Nabiki and Ranma 1/2" here. The story opens with Nabiki,
Ranma and Genma returning to the dojo after their training trip.
Be sure to let the author know
what you think!
Nabiki
I really like Nabiki with
Ranma. Like several
of the writers in this section point out, I think they could find a
lot in common.

I have been pre-reading a fic that is just getting off the ground, though I quite like where it is going :). Here's the first part of a new fic called "Breaking the Circle" which shows us a rather introspective Ranma. The story is written by Robert Thomson, so kick-start your email program and give him some feedback! :)
For the adults out there, there is a Lemon which has Ranma (sorta) ending up with both Akane and Nabiki. Not a romance by any stretch of the imagination, in fact if anything Nabiki is even more of an Ice Queen than usual, but I had several requests to include this particular story.. Go figure... Check out Power by Nabiki Tendo.
"A Deft Touch" This is a fic of my own creation.. This seems to be a much better read than my first fic, or so they are telling me. The story involves Ranma starting over over after he loses Akane. It starts out sad and hopefully lightens up a bit as we go along, but it is a serious fic overall. I have received lots of great feedback, and I thank you all for your encouragement! I have combined the chapters into a single file to make things easier to read, and I have also included some minor revisions. Enjoy!
I've started on
a rather meandering follow-up to "Deft Touch." Here is part or
Week 1 of "Nabiki's Diary."
There is
now a Church of
Kasumi and Ranma with several fics. Check it out!
Long Ngo created an
interesting story called "Kasumi's
Wish," another Ah! My Goddess crossover, with Kasumi wishing for
love. Not complete yet, and I have not seen any new work on this
in a while, but what is there is most enjoyable. Part of the story
(most of Chapter 2) was originally written as a stand-alone
called "One Hour" by Megane 6.7 (See below).
"Love and Marriage:
The More Dangerous Path" is a series by Anand Rao which
starts with Kasumi falling prey to one of Shampoo's potions.
Nicely done with a bit of a different take on both Akane and
Kasumi's characters. Kasumi seems to take on a nice, human
quality. :) Anand took his site down, but
has kindly given me permission to archive the stories. BTW, Part 4 is
actually the start of the sequel, but I do not know the status of that
work. Be sure to let the
author know what you think!
Kasumi
I
know some people just cringe to think about Kasumi and Ranma
together, or for some just Kasumi with anyone other than Tofu,
but these can be quite fun.

| Part 4 |
"Man Enough" by Donny Cheng is the is the Kasumi story many of you helped me rediscover. This is the one that started it all for me. Kasumi starts out trying to bring Ranma and Akane closer together, acting on Nodoka's request and advice no less, but grows closer to him herself instead. Ultimately, this is probably where this page started.
"The Setting Moon" by Nikholas F. Toledo Zu (Updated link) is an enjoyable one. Ranma and Kasumi are seeing each other behind Akane's back, while Ranma tries to figure out a way to let the youngest sister down without hurting her. This one I first saw before I really considered Ranma with anyone but Akane, and I must say it was a little chilling at how reasonable it sounded.
Megane 6.7 is working on "Wild Stallion in the Mist" (Don't get the reference? Look up the meaning of 'Ranma' and 'Kasumi'.) but only has part one up at this point. Sure like what I see, but no updates in a LONG time, and which the author tells me is due to a bad case of writer's block, but it will hopefully resume production soon. Soooo... drop an email and see if you can offer some encouraging words. Also look for "One Hour" which is a nice piece on its own, and was later adapted as part of Long Ngo's "Kasumi's Wish" (above).
Lemon Warning! Adults only please... Cool new one from first time writer Kanomi, "Nothing Wrong With This Picture" uses a scenario similar to others. Kasumi tries to help Ranma and Akane, and instead grows closer to Ranma herself. What sets this story apart from the others is a well-done Kasumi perspective, great characterization, and (like Lord Archive) the ability to write a Lemon with an actual plot and dialog! I used to say that more was soon to come. Unfortunately, we have not seen anything more in quite some time. More info and stories on Kanomi's page.
After several requests for equal treatment, I have written a Kasumi
fic
of my own. If you don't like it, blame your fellow surfers, I
had no
intention of doing this. Intentions aside, I guess I did all
right:
the story tied for Second Place for March 1999! Who'd have
figured? :)
"Special Delivery"
starts at a grave site (NO, I did not kill Akane off again!) and
well, I guess I
should just let Kasumi tell you what happens..
In any case, drop me a line and let me know what you think of my page.. :)
