Here it is - my new page! Most of you probably know me from my main page, Romancing the Tendos, but this page will be a bit different. For one thing, this will not be a Ranma 1/2 only page, at least I hope not. This is a page for what I hope will be several answers to a challenge I am issuing...
"What challenge is that?" you ask...
The Movie Fusion Challenge, of
course...
I've been thinking - no snide
comments,
please. I want to extend a
challenge to all you authors out there who also happen to be movie
buffs.
The "Movie Fusion Challenge." Take one or more anime
characters and fit
them into the role(s) of characters in a movie. Now,
obviously, some of
this has been done. In fact, I got the idea from the
suggestion a while
back about doing a Ranma/You've Got Mail fusion, which was a story
my wife
was already writing. Try to find a combination that has never
been done
before. Maybe something no one would have thought of
before. Some
examples:
What would happen to the gang from Lodoss War if they got
together for a
reunion, ala The Big Chill?
What would the three sisters from AMG be like as escaped
convicts from
Devil's island in We're No Angels.
What about KOR's Kasuga working as a reader for an
intelligence agency
when events draw him into the Three Days of the Condor?
How about Soun and Genma as The Odd Couple?
They don't even have to be from the same series. How about:
Tenchi and Vampire Princess Miyu on a cruise aboard the
African Queen.
Don't like those choices? Too young maybe? How about
Mr Fujisawa and
Nodoka?
What characters could be brought together as a group
defending a Western
town called Silverado? Or as a group that tests security
systems like the
one in Sneakers?
Try not to be too obvious. Avoid type-casting, like Yosho
playing the role
of Mr. Miyagi, or Ranma in anything from Jackie Chan. Try
something new and
have some fun with it.
